Privacy & Your Data
Last updated: 24 July 2026
Rumi is built to be a calm, anonymous place to ask questions about growing up. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why, and how you (or a parent/guardian) can ask us to delete it.
What we collect
- Your question. When you leave rumi a note, we store the text of your question. We never ask for your name.
- How your question is used. Your question is processed by rumi's AI system to generate an answer, and checked by our safety system for signs you may need urgent help. We don't use your questions for anything beyond generating your answer and improving rumi's safety and quality over time.
- Age (optional). When you ask a question, you can optionally tell us your age. This is only used to help rumi give a more relevant answer — it's never required, and never published.
- Email (only if you choose to give it). If you sign up for the First Edit waitlist or community updates, we store your email address so we can let you know when we launch. We don't collect email anywhere else on the site.
- Anonymous check-in tallies. The homepage “have you ever felt...” check-in keeps a running count of how many times each statement has been selected, site-wide (e.g. “68% of girls felt this too”). This is just a number going up — it is never linked to you, your device, your question, or anything else you've shared, and it cannot be traced back to any individual.
We don't create accounts, we don't ask for your name, and questions are never published with any identifying details attached.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your information with anyone.
- We don't use your questions to advertise to you.
- We don't publish anything that could identify you.
For parents and guardians
Rumi is designed for tweens and early teens navigating puberty and periods. If your child is under 15, we'd encourage you to be involved before they sign up for the First Edit waitlist with an email address — asking a question anonymously on the site itself doesn't require any personal information at all.
If you have questions about what your child may have shared, or would like something deleted, contact us using the details below and we'll action it.
Deleting your information
If you'd like an email address or submitted question removed, email us and we'll remove it. Because questions are submitted anonymously, we can only locate and delete a specific submission if you can describe it to us (e.g. roughly when it was sent and what it said).
